A dental emergency is any situation that requires immediate treatment to save a tooth, stop ongoing tissue bleeding, or alleviate severe pain. This includes severe toothache, knocked-out teeth, broken teeth, dental abscesses, uncontrolled bleeding, swelling of the face or gums, and trauma to teeth or jaw.

Yes! We make every effort to see emergency patients the same day they call. For severe emergencies, we can often arrange an appointment within a few hours. Call us at 01372 277797 and we'll assess your situation and get you in as quickly as possible.

Time is critical! Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it with water if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If you can't, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Call us immediately – if we can treat you within an hour, there's a good chance we can save the tooth.

Take over-the-counter painkillers as directed (ibuprofen or paracetamol). Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Avoid very hot or cold foods. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. However, these are temporary measures – you should see a dentist as soon as possible.
