Modern dentures are nothing like the ones many patients remember their parents wearing. As a clinical dental technician I design and make dentures that fit the shape of your mouth, match the colour and character of natural teeth, and support the lips and cheeks where tooth loss and gum shrinkage have changed the face.

The difference between a denture that works and one that lives in a drawer is fit and follow-up. I take time over the impressions and the fitting, use materials chosen for fit, appearance and longevity, and expect to see you for adjustments in the first weeks while your mouth settles.

My recommendationIf your dentures move when you eat or talk, ask about implant-retained dentures. Two or four implants can hold a denture firmly, and the change in confidence is remarkable.

Will they look natural?

Yes. We choose tooth shade, size and arrangement with you, and I can build in the small irregularities that make teeth look real rather than uniform.

Do I have to take them out at night?

I recommend it. Your gums need the rest, and soaking the denture overnight in a cleaning solution keeps it fresh.

How long will they last?

Five to seven years is typical. Your gums and bone change over time, so relines and eventually a remake keep the fit right, and repairs are usually straightforward.

Will dentures look natural?

Is getting dentures painful?

Getting dentures is not painful. If tooth extractions are needed, local anaesthesia ensures comfort. Some mild soreness during the adjustment period is normal.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Yes, but there's an adjustment period. Start with soft foods and gradually introduce harder foods. Avoid very hard, sticky, or chewy foods.

How do I keep my dentures in place?

Well-fitted dentures stay in place through natural suction and gum support. Denture adhesive can provide extra security. Partial dentures use clasps that attach to remaining natural teeth.

Do I need to remove dentures at night?

Yes, it's recommended to remove dentures while sleeping. This gives your gums a rest and allows saliva to naturally clean your mouth. Soak overnight in denture cleaning solution.

Will dentures affect my speech?

Initially, you may notice slight changes. Practice speaking slowly and reading aloud. Most people regain normal speech within a few weeks.

What's the difference between dentures and implants?

Dentures are removable and rest on gums; implants are permanent titanium posts in the jawbone. Dentures are more affordable and non-invasive; implants offer superior stability. Implant-supported dentures combine benefits of both.

How much do dentures cost?
